New CS2 Crosshair Styles After the 2026 Update
A practical style-by-style starting guide for the redesigned CS2 Crosshair/Scopes menu.
The Eight Styles Players Are Seeing
Valve's official notes confirm that new styles were added, but they do not list every style name in the text patch notes. The following names match the style list shown in Valve's update imagery and current update coverage:
| Style | Starting interpretation |
|---|---|
| Static Cross | Fixed cross arms for a stable aiming reference. |
| Static Circle | A fixed circular reference rather than four traditional arms. |
| Dot Only | A single center point with minimal screen coverage. |
| Dynamic Cross | A cross that communicates inaccuracy through movement or expansion. |
| Dynamic Circle | A circular version of dynamic feedback. |
| Dynamic Cross (Classic) | A classic dynamic behavior for players who want visible movement feedback. |
| Dynamic Cross (Legacy/Shot Feedback) | A legacy-style dynamic option associated with shot feedback. |
| Dynamic Quad | The new default, with a stable cross and an additional dynamic accuracy element. |
The exact behavior can depend on the rest of the settings in the current client. Treat these as menu styles, not as a promise that one style behaves exactly like an old cl_crosshairstyle value.
Which Style Should You Try First?
Choose Static Cross if You Want Stability
Start here if you already play with a small competitive crosshair and do not want the aiming reference to expand.
Choose Dot Only if You Want Minimal Coverage
Dot Only can leave more of the target visible, but a single point may disappear against some backgrounds or cover a distant head.
Choose Dynamic Cross or Dynamic Circle for Feedback
These styles are useful when you want the crosshair to communicate movement or weapon inaccuracy. Give the style several practice rounds before deciding whether the feedback helps.
Choose Dynamic Quad for the New Default Experience
Dynamic Quad is the style Valve selected as the new default. It is designed to keep an aiming reference while showing weapon accuracy through a separate dynamic element.
A Simple Comparison Routine
- Test Static Cross for five minutes.
- Test Dynamic Quad for five minutes.
- Test Dot Only or Static Circle for five minutes.
- Use the same resolution, map area, weapon, and brightness.
- Keep the style that makes target reading easiest.
This avoids confusing a style change with a resolution or color change.
Important Compatibility Note
The update made crosshairs resolution independent and changed the settings interface. Old screenshots, old command presets, and old player-code pages may no longer be a perfect visual reference.
Use the current Crosshair/Scopes preview and save the final result from your own game client.
