CS2 Crosshair Alpha: Tune Opacity Without Losing the Center
Use transparency as a controlled visibility change, not as a replacement for a readable shape.
When Opacity Helps
Lower opacity can reduce visual weight when a crosshair covers target detail. It can also make the center disappear in pale scenery. If the shape is unreadable at full opacity, fix the color, length, or outline first.
Test It in Context
Save your code, keep every setting fixed, and adjust opacity in Settings -> Crosshair/Scopes. Check a bright surface, dark corner, and distant target. Stop moving before firing so you are testing visibility rather than spread.
Console Names and Backups
Legacy configs commonly reference cl_crosshairalpha and cl_crosshairusealpha. The current client preview should decide the result. Export a new share code when the opacity is right and keep the old one separately.
See the crosshair testing routine for a repeatable comparison.
