How to Save and Back Up a CS2 Crosshair
Keep an original, a tested candidate, and a personal export so experiments are reversible.
Save Before You Experiment
Open Settings -> Crosshair/Scopes, use the share/export control, and keep the complete CSGO- string in a dated note. Take a screenshot of the visible controls as a second record. Do this before importing a pro snapshot or trying a new style.
Label the Context
Record your resolution, aspect ratio, style, and the reason you kept the setup. A note such as small static - distant head coverage - 2026-09-25 is more useful than a file called crosshair2.
Roll Back
If the candidate fails, import the original code through Share or Import. Change one setting at a time after rollback. Keep the source snapshot separate from the personal version so a later update does not erase what you actually tested.
Use the testing routine before deciding that a new shape is better.
