How to Change Your CS2 Crosshair

The direct menu path for changing a CS2 crosshair, with separate steps for manual settings, share codes, and console commands.

Change a CS2 Crosshair in the Settings Menu

The current CS2 crosshair controls are in the Crosshair/Scopes section.

  1. Launch Counter-Strike 2.
  2. Open Settings from the gear icon.
  3. Select Crosshair/Scopes.
  4. Choose a style, such as a static or dynamic option.
  5. Adjust size, gap, thickness, color, outline, dot, and transparency.
  6. Watch the live preview while changing one value at a time.
  7. Close the menu and test the crosshair in a practice session.

The menu preview is useful for comparing shapes, but a real map is the final test. Bright walls, dark corners, smoke, and distant player models can all change how readable a crosshair feels.

Import a CS2 Crosshair Code

Use a share code when you already have a CSGO- code from a teammate, a pro-player database, or an earlier backup.

  1. Open Settings → Crosshair/Scopes.
  2. Choose Share or Import.
  3. Paste the complete code, including the CSGO- prefix.
  4. Confirm the import.
  5. Check the selected style and preview.
  6. Test the imported setup at your own resolution.

If the code imports but looks different from an old screenshot, check the style and aspect ratio before assuming that the code is broken. The September 22, 2026 update changed the crosshair system and added new styles.

Change a Crosshair with Console Commands

Console commands are useful when you want to change one property at a time. For example:

cl_crosshairsize 2; cl_crosshairgap -2; cl_crosshairthickness 1; cl_crosshaircolor 1; cl_crosshairdot 0; cl_crosshair_drawoutline 1

Use the CS2 Crosshair Commands guide when you want to understand each command instead of pasting a complete preset.

What to Test Before Keeping It

  • Does the center remain visible against bright and dark backgrounds?
  • Does the gap leave enough room for a distant head?
  • Does the outline help visibility or cover too much detail?
  • Does dynamic movement help you read accuracy or distract you?
  • Does the crosshair still feel readable at your real resolution?

Do not change every setting after one bad round. Keep a version for several practice sessions so you can separate unfamiliarity from a genuine visibility problem.

Save the Version That Works

When you find a setup you like, save both:

  • The share code, if you imported one.
  • The command values or a screenshot of the current Crosshair/Scopes panel.

That backup makes it easier to restore your setup after a future update or after testing a pro-player code.
