CS2 Crosshair Code After the 2026 Update
What to check when an old CS2 crosshair code no longer looks the way you remember after the new Crosshair/Scopes update.
Is the Code Broken?
Not necessarily. Valve changed the crosshair settings system on September 22, 2026:
- Crosshairs became resolution independent.
- The settings moved into a new Crosshair/Scopes tab.
- New styles were added.
- The default became Dynamic Quad.
Those changes can make an old screenshot, preset, or player code look different even when the share code imports successfully.
Troubleshooting Checklist
1. Import the Code Again
Open Settings → Crosshair/Scopes → Share or Import, paste the full CSGO- code, and confirm the import. Do not paste a command line into the share-code field.
2. Check the Selected Style
An imported setup may now be easier to compare by checking the selected style first. If the game has selected a different style than the one you expected, the same size and gap values can produce a very different shape.
3. Test at Your Own Resolution
The update changed how crosshairs relate to resolution. Test the imported code at your actual aspect ratio and resolution instead of comparing it only with an old 4:3 or 16:9 screenshot.
4. Compare the Visible Controls
Check these values in the current client:
- Style
- Length or size
- Gap
- Thickness
- Outline
- Color and transparency
- Dot
- Movement or accuracy feedback
The names and ranges may differ from older guides. Use the current menu as the source of truth.
5. Save a New Backup
Once the crosshair looks right, save:
- The share code.
- A screenshot of the current Crosshair/Scopes panel.
- A text note with any console commands you still use.
That gives you a reproducible setup even if future updates adjust the UI again.
When to Use a Manual Preset
Use console commands when you need to rebuild a shape by hand or compare one variable at a time. Start with a known command preset from the CS2 Crosshair Commands guide, then verify the result in the current Crosshair/Scopes tab.
Do not assume that every old command range maps perfectly to the new style system. If a slider or command appears to have no visible effect, test it on a style that uses that property and record the result from the current client.
The Practical Answer
If your old code imports but looks different, first check the selected style and resolution. If it does not import, copy the code again and confirm the entire CSGO- string. If the visual difference remains, rebuild from the current Crosshair/Scopes controls instead of chasing an old screenshot.
